Soft Floor Campers are a lot more affordable, you will be hard pressed to find a hard floor camper for under $25,000.

Weight
Hard Floor Camper weight substantially more than a Soft Floor Campers, with the ever increasing price of fuel, it doesn’t make sense to tow a camper that weighs 900kg or more in comparison to one at 600kg. A lighter camper will also allow you to get into more remote places easier and also be easier to maneuver by hand.

Storage
Hard Floor Campers have virtually zero internal storage in comparison to a soft floor camper. Hard Floor Campers have their bed built inside the body of the trailer, and feature a small area under the bed. Soft Floor Campers feature a soft removable travel cover, at Outback Campers we allow plenty of extra room for additional mattresses and bedding to be stored on the bed, and flat items such as tables and chairs to be stored on top of the tent, under the cover

Tent space
Hard floor campers are limited in tent space as they are constricted by the size of the lid of the trailer, add the normal end doorway onto this and the tent space is useful for a change room and that’s it.

Quick setup
It’s a common misconception that Hard Floor Campers are the quickest in terms of erection, this is not necessarily the case. When camping on an uneven ground, a Hard Floor Camper required a lot of adjustments on the legs so that the floor is meets the ground. Also consider the time added when you have to strap all of your gear the roof rack because the camper has minimal storage.  

Additional Rooms
Soft Floor Campers can easily add a second bedroom on, doubling the floor space. Hard Floor Campers are unable to add a fully functioning bedroom, which asks this question. Where do the kids sleep? In the annexe? This would suffice for 1-2 nights, but the annexe is a living space a having a few beds under your feet for a week or more will is not ideal for a leisurely holiday.

Uneven Ground
A Soft Floor Camper can be setup on any surface, whether it’s a beautifully flat caravan park site or somewhere off the beaten track where the ground is slopping off in two different directions, all you need to do is get a few pegs in the ground. Also consider the sound made from a Hard Floor Camper on uneven ground. The flex in the hard materials create a noisy racket underfoot, especially in the middle of the night.
